LIONS PROJECT FOR CANINE COMPANIONS FOR INDEPENDENCE (LPCCI)
FACT SHEET
- Lions have supported CCI since its very beginnings in Santa Rosa, CA in the 1970’s.
- LPCCI (a Lions Foundation) was formally founded in 1983 (at CCI’s suggestion) to better function as a significant provider of financial and volunteer support to CCI through Lions clubs.
- LPCCI consists of an all-volunteer board of directors, more than 575 volunteer representatives around the country, and one paid staff-person (the LPCCI National Administrator).
- LPCCI volunteer representatives provide presentations at Lions club meetings, district cabinet meetings and conventions, and at other service clubs and organizations, to increase public awareness of CCI’s program and gain financial support, puppy raisers, etc.
- Lions and Lions Clubs support LPCCI through Life and Family Life Memberships, LPCCI Fellowships, Club Memberships, Abdul and Distinguished Service Awards, various sponsorships, and fundraisers.
- Many Lions serve as CCI puppy raisers, breeder-caretakers, Chapter group members, office volunteers, and goodwill ambassadors spreading the word about CCI’s program.
- LPCCI celebrated its 25th anniversary May, 2008.
- To date LPCCI has donated more than $2.5 million to CCI.
- LPCCI needs volunteer representatives from every Lions district in every state, particularly in states where there is a CCI Regional Training Center. Please call LPCCI to learn more about it. Call Lion Lucille Hynes at 707 577-1774.
- Anyone who knows a Lions club member, and thinks a Lion would like to know more about the Lions Project For Canine Companions For Independence, please contact LPCCI.
DISTRICT 4-C2 FUNDRAISER
Last year, in 2010, Lions District 4-C2 hosted a fundraiser called "Tapas, Treasures & Treats" in association with BobDog Wines to benefit CCI.
It was held at the Santa Rosa Campus of LPCCI, and raised more than $5,000.
This year, they are doing it again. There are many opportunities for volunteers who want to help. Just call Lion Lucille Hynes at 707 577-1774. Alternatively, if you cannot help by working on the project, mark the date and come on out. You'll have a lot of fun and taste a lot of good food and good wines. Click on Tapas, Treasures & Treats for the flyer.
