Who we are:

We are a group of women and men who are committed to serving our Community. The Lions International slogan is "We Serve". Lioness clubs operate under a sponsoring Lions club. The Santa Rosa Lioness Club's Sponsor Club is the Santa Rosa Host Lions Club, Lion Wes Boardman, President.
The Lioness Club meets on the 4th Thursday of the month at Coco's Restaurant on Farmers Lane at 6 pm. Please consider joining us to get a glimpse of who we are and what we do. We are fun, compassionate individuals who want to help the Community, however we can. All funds raised are donated back to the Community; none are used for Club administrative purposes. Listed below are some of the projects we do. We have a lot of fun doing these events. Perhaps some of them appeal to you. If so, give us a call, and we'll be happy to include you.

  • Teddy Bears and Kases for Kids - This project was started by the Santa Rosa Lioness Club in January, 1988, and has been going on ever since. When an agency, such as the Sonoma County Sheriff's Dept, Cotati Police Dept., Sonoma County Emergency Foster Care Program, Valley of the Moon Children's Home, or the Sonoma County Fire Dept, calls for them, the Lioness Club provides first quality Teddy Bears, and back packs filled with personal toiletry items. These items that become so dear to children who have been traumatized are either donated to, or purchased by the SR Lioness Club. We hold our fundraiser in March for this project. Last year alone, the Lioness spent $5,000 on bears and backpacks.

  • School Days - This project was started in September 2008. A purple laundry basket is brought to every meeting and event hosted by The Lioness. The goal is to have supplies, such as paper, pencils, folders, etc. purchased by members throughout the year and donate them in the spring to schools for use by children who are unable to replenish their own supplies. In February of this year, we donated four laundry baskets filled with supplies to the Burbank and Bellevue schools. This idea originated with the Cotati Lions Club.

  • Human Race - The Lioness Club supports the annual "Human Race Cancer Walk-athon" by preparing and serving fresh fruit slices to the participants.

  • Valley of the Moon Children's Home Halloween Party - The Lioness have been participating in this event for several years, and it is one of our favorites. We give the children a party, with all the trimmings. They paint their own pumpkins, get candy and "healthy" snacks as well. Each child is given a stuffed animal for their very own. We love being a part of this tradition.
